I am a C-SLDI Certified Structured Literacy/Dyslexia Interventionist (also/formerly known as C-DP Certified Dyslexia Practitioner) and completed undergraduate and graduate school at the University of Virginia. I have my Masters in Teaching and English as a Second Language Endorsement from the University of Virginia School of Education, as well as my B.A. with Distinction from the University of Virginia's School of Arts and Sciences. I completed graduate studies in Phonics and Word Study at the University of Virginia as well. Additionally, while attending UVA, I studied teaching mathematics through Mary Baldwin College Graduate Studies. I, too, trained at the McGuffey Reading Center, the longest continuously operated reading clinic in the country. I am trained in the Orton- Gillingham Approach to literacy. As someone trained in social emotional learning, I strongly believe in forming positive relationships and having a calm, positive demeanor while working with children. I possess a passion for education, with eight years of lead teaching experience in preschool and elementary grades as well as additional years of training prior to this in grades K-8. My goal is to provide sessions with children ages 3.5-11 that are individualized and positive. I want to help your child feel ready to take on the world and become all that they can be!
